MUSA 160 Lyric Diction I - Italian-Latin
Previously MUSC 126. The first in a series of courses designed for singers and choral conductors who wish to improve their linguistic skills and knowledge of Italian/Latin, as applied through the use of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), as well as expanding their knowledge of standard vocal repertoire.

Course Objectives
- Recognize and write IPA symbols.
- Transcribe poetic texts.
- Place linguistic stress inflection.
- Pronounce, articulate, and place vowels and consonants.
- Apply gained knowledge of IPA to vocal repertoire.
- Differentiate between spoken vernacular and classically sung articulations.
- Demonstrate, through performance, a mastery of acquired skills.
