ARTT 254 Landscape Oil Painting I
This course is a basic introduction to the theories, practices, and techniques of painting outdoors and on-site as a tool for understanding the representation of the form, space, suggestion, and simplification of the natural environment.

Course Objectives
- 1. Use the tools and materials commonly used in oil painting.
- 2. Define and apply the specialized vocabulary used in painting.
- 3. Demonstrate a visual understanding of space and the natural environment.
- 4. Demonstrate productive work habits with a concern for craftsmanship.
- 5. Describe form and space with color, edges, and paint application.
- 6. Apply principles of design that insure successful compositions.
- 7. Apply fundamental drawing conventions of perspective and proportion.
- 8. Discuss the over-all use of principles, perception, and personal interpretation in painting.
