HEED-106 Introduction to Stress Management

This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the concepts of stress management and the application of these concepts to personal stress management. Students will be presented with various tools and strategies for managing stress and will use these to develop an individual stress management plan.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Describe issues and problems in modern society that contribute to stress.
  2. 2. Analyze the effects of major life events and everyday stressors on health.
  3. 3. Evaluate the physiological and psychological effects of the stress response.
  4. 4. Identify and practice techniques for managing stress.
  5. 5. Assess individual levels of stress and develop an individual stress management plan.
  6. 6. Identify and evaluate evidence delineating an issue or topic of concern related to stress
    management, and apply the information to solve a problem.
