PHY 111 Modern Astronomy

A survey of modern astronomy, emphasizing scientific observation and the application of physical laws to understand the Universe. Topics include the search for extrasolar planets, the formation and evolution of stars, the structure of galaxies, and the origin and evolution of the universe. Three lecture hours and one laboratory each week.
