AVMP 283 Audio Documentary
This course is a survey and analysis of historic and contemporary audio documentary combined with student generated, topic-driven audio documentary production. Students hone production skills and build producing skills, including topic and show research, pitching, pre-interview and booking guests, field and studio recording, interview skills, logging field sources, writing scripts, voicing narration, and audio editing.

- Analyze, critique, and deconstruct national radio documentaries.
- Identify trends and styles of documentary radio and web podcasts including what is airing where.
- Discuss and develop stories for a variety of audiences both targeted and broad.
- Write for, interview for, record, voice, edit, and publish audio documentaries both alone and as part of a team.
- Utilize narrative arc, character development, effective ambient sound, and evocative writing to produce a professional audio documentary.
- Utilize advanced digital multi-track editing software to produce complete, polished documentary projects for inclusion in a portfolio.
