DANC 250 Dance Composition
This course serves as an introduction to the creative process through improvisation, self exploration, group interaction, and relating musical tone and character to the development of thematic and abstract movement invention. Students explore compositional devices and develop small group works. Students will present group and solo choreography for a public performance.

Course Objectives
- 1. Build upon improvisation skills learned in DANC-150 (Dance Improvisation)
- 2. Identify and develop improvisation as a source of movement invention
- 3. Demonstrate knowledge of the basic choreographic devices used to create dances
- 4. Understand the various modern choreographic approaches
- 5. Communicate and articulate choreographic vision
- 6. Develop analytical and critical skills in dance observations
- 7. Demonstrate creative use of sound/music with choreography
- 8. Develop dances from wide range of sources
