DANC 220 Intermediate Ballroom and Latin Dance

This course will serve as a continuation of the material covered in Ballroom and Latin Dance (DANC 110). This course will focus on training students to understand and perform complex ballroom and Latin steps, turns, and partnering. Students will also continue to learn the rhythms, history, and culture of each style. Students will demonstrate mastery of these styles through choreographed and non-choreographed class performances.

  2. 2. Outline history and cultural roots of each dance style
  3. 3. Demonstrate physical presence and posture in performance

  5. 5. Demonstrate an advanced ability to work well within a group of dancers
  6. 6. Demonstrate major styles of ballroom dance in an improvised setting
  7. 7. Outline dancers’ performances in a paper
