CNST 201 Construction Project Management
The course examines the various aspects of construction management including both traditional and nontraditional approaches such as Bid-Build, CM at risk, Design-Build and negotiated contracts. The emphasis is on project management and the role of project manager on a construction project. Topics covered include a review of project approach, roles of the construction manager, project documentation, and risk management.

- 1. Compare and contrast the typical construction approaches in the Baltimore – Washington DC
area. - 2. Summarize the issues that impact a typical construction project.
- 3. Explain the different approaches to construction management.
- 4. Identify positions within a typical construction management team and describe the role(s) of
each team member. - 5. Apply cost and money management for a construction project.
- 6. Plan project scheduling and manage project timeframes and documentation.
- 7. Explain project risk management.
- 8. Explain the procurement process from subcontract selection through fabrication and delivery.
