THET 215 Theatre Design II
This course explores the tools and processes used by theatrical designers to communicate design concepts with collaborators. Students will communicate design ideas to a production team by learning, developing, and using skills in computer-aided rendering, drafting, hand drawing, visual research and collage, three-dimensional computer modeling, and the utilization of lighting and sound in the design process. Focus will be placed on the collaboration and flexibility required for a successful design process.

Course Objectives
- Demonstrate the integration of aesthetics, form, and composition within the creation of a theatrical design.
- Create representations of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional plane through the use of computer-aided and hand-drawing design techniques.
- Create scale or computer-based, three-dimensional representations of a design idea through computer-aided design tools.
- Create representations of design concepts through lighting and sound that focus on communication through time and movement elements within a performance space.
- Apply theories of and perspectives on the creative process when creating and critically analyzing a work of art or other creative content.
- Apply a variety of problem-solving methods to generate creative approaches to achieve a goal or solve a problem.
