PTAP-250 Clinical Neuroscience

This course focuses on nervous system anatomy and function, and normal/abnormal development. Students also learn assessment of the neurologically impaired patient and therapeutic approaches to central nervous system dysfunctions throughout the life cycle.

Course Objectives

1. 1. Discuss normal neuroanatomy and physiology.
2. 2. Compare and contrast normal and abnormal motor development.
3. 3. Employ assessment tools commonly utilized for the neurologically impaired patient population.
4. 4. Discuss common neurological impairments encountered from infancy through adulthood.
5. 5. Demonstrate appropriate physical therapy interventions for the neurologically impaired patient
   using safe and effective techniques.
