REL 250 Judaism

Prerequisite: GSTR 110 (or waiver)

Introduction the religion of Judaism. This course examines the development of Judaism, from its origins in ancient Israelite religion to its contemporary forms. The course will focus on the history and major dimensions of the religion and spiritualities of Judaism: formative narratives and traditions; sacred texts and authorities; key beliefs and doctrines; major rituals and practices; distinctive forms of religious experience; moral codes and behavior; forms of social and political life; institutions and leadership; as well as styles of architecture and the arts.
