FRN 240 French History/Arts in Film II

We will use films to explore the history and arts (painting, architecture, etc.) of France, from prehistoric times to the present day. We will pay particular attention to the impact on today’s world of events and entities like the French Revolution, France’s global colonial empire, World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and the European Union. Students who meet one of the prerequisites may register for French 240, which is taught in English at the times listed and in French during one extra hour per week. Students may not receive credit for both FRN 140 and FRN 240.
Prerequisite: FRN 103 with a grade of C or higher.
