Prerequisite: CHM 370 (or concurrent enrollment) and one additional CHM course at the 345-or-higher level; OR permission of instructor
The third of four courses in the Advanced Laboratory sequence required for all Chemistry majors. In this course, students will attend a set of lectures on nuclear magnetic resonance and do the equivalent of six (6) experiments that provide both core instrumental analysis experience as well as laboratories for biochemistry, analytical, and physical chemistry. All students will be required to attend at least three research seminars (or equivalent) by visiting speakers each term, read important chemical literature, and do in-class presentations. All required activities must be documented on each student's Advanced Lab Portfolio which must be maintained throughout the four-course Advanced laboratory series.
