CHM 471 Advanced Lab - Synthesis
Prerequisite: CHM 371 (or concurrent enrollment) and two additional CHM courses at the 345-and-higher-level or permission of instructor
The last of four courses in the Advanced Laboratory sequence required for all Chemistry majors. In this course, students will attend a set of lectures on synthetic strategies and do the equivalent of six (6) laboratory experiments to provide a solid foundation of advanced synthesis techniques in inorganic, organometallic, and organic chemistry. All students will be required to attend at least three research seminars (or equivalent) by visiting speakers each term, read important chemical literature, and do in-class presentations. All required activities must be documented throughout the four-course Advanced Laboratory series. This laboratory meets one time for four hours each week.
