GST 110A Enhancing Career Readiness

This class is designed to prepare juniors and seniors for grad school applications AND job search. At the end of this 8-week class students will have -

• an ability to articulate motivated skills and major-specific competencies and utilize this information in career documents (resumes, etc.) and through interviewing/networking
• a deeper understanding of the labor market and will be able to articulate job trends, employment outlook and realistic salary expectations as it relates to specific career goals
• strategies to target employers and graduate programs that fit each student best • a highly tailored resume and CV
• a thorough understanding of how to write an effective cover letter and personal statement
• printed business cards
• sophisticated interviewing skills
• a final project articulating why YOU are an excellent candidate for hire OR for acceptance into grad school
