THET 241 Acting for Television
This course will prepare students to present themselves in a professional manner and to perform appropriately in any of the mass media. Voice, appearance, movement, and the technical aspects of mass media performance will be covered through comprehensive exercises and on-camera evaluation.

Course Objectives
- Adapt topic, goals, and language of the written script to reveal thematic context through performance.
- Use clear language and purposeful physical interpretations to create cohesive characterizations in performance for the camera.
- Reference appropriate given circumstances information and script analysis to create credible characters true to the script writer's vision.
- Use appropriate actor skills to communicate clear, truthful and compelling performances, as well as using strong inter-personal skills to facilitate productive rehearsals between partners.
- Identify and apply critical theories and concepts related to enduring and contemporary issues of aesthetics and creativity, articulating the differences between acting for theatre and acting for the camera.
- Generate ideas, explore possibilities, and consider alternatives for performance choices through observation, improvisation, analysis, rehearsal, and revision.
- Analyze and evaluate one's own performance for the camera, and that of others, through honest and constructive critiques of peer performances and live theatre events.
- Apply information and ideas to reflect on, and critically analyze the role of film and performance in illuminating the human condition.
