ENGL 086 Academic Advanced Reading for ESL Students
Students will develop their reading comprehension and vocabulary building with an emphasis on academic preparation for college-level courses. Students will apply critical thinking skills and information literacy skills to analyze advanced-level readings. Reading is approached as an integrated part of an ESL student’s overall English language learning, not as an isolated skill.
Prerequisite
Appropriate score on English placement test or successful completion of
ENGL 083

4 hours weekly in class and lab

- Read a novel or memoir and use critical thinking skills to analyze and respond to related ideas.
