Religion Minor

Degree Requirements

The faculty of the Religion Department has designed a minor in Studies of Religions to complement a student’s interests and studies in other academic disciplines. The minor in Religion requires a minimum of five (5) course-credits, as follows:

Required Religion Courses

The student must complete at least four (4) additional courses in the Studies of Religions and Spiritualities:

  • The student must complete at least two (2) of these courses that are designated as courses from the curriculum of the Religion Department and not cross-listed with any other academic department;
  • Of the four additional courses from the Religion Department, a student must complete at least one (1) 200-level course designated from the Religion Department that is not cross-listed with any other academic department;
  • Of the four additional courses from the Religion Department, a student must complete at least one (1) regular 300-level course designated from the Religion Department that is not cross-listed with any other academic department (NOTE: Independent Studies, Internships, Team-Initiated Studies, and Directed Studies will not fulfill this basic requirement);
  • To fulfill the requirement of four additional courses, a student may complete no more than two (2) potential interdisciplinary collateral courses in studies of religions and spiritualities from other academic departments of the College that the Religion Department may approve upon request.
