EDS 318 Teaching in the Humanities
Prerequisite: EDS 325
Offered: Typically every Spring Term
The purpose of EDS 318 is to prepare teachers of English language arts, history/social studies, and the arts to understand, respect, and effectively teach knowledge, skills and habits (of their content area) to the diverse student populations in middle and high schools. Teaching candidates will examine, learn and practice effective approaches to planning, implementing, managing, and assessing successful learning experiences for students in their content area specialization. The relationship between educational theory and the development of practical teaching techniques for everyday use in the middle or secondary content area classroom will be explored. A significant component of this course will be a field placement with a teacher in their area of content speciailization. 1 Course Credit
