PSY 212 Behavioral Neuroscience w/ Lab
Prerequisite: PSY 100 or permission of instructor
Behavioral Neuroscience is the scientific study of the physiological basis of human and animal behavior, exploring how the brain shapes thoughts, emotions, and actions. This course integrates traditional and contemporary approaches to highlight the biological foundations of both typical and atypical behavior. Key topics include stress and emotion, motor behavior and disorders, neurological and psychological disorders, sleep, and psychopharmacology. Laboratory activities provide structured, hands-on experience in scientific investigation, including the use of physiograph
equipment to measure physiological responses to psychological variables and an introduction to the application of electroencephalography (EEG) to record and analyze brain activity.
