NUR 450 Transition to Nursing Prac.
Prerequisites: NUR 400 and NUR 448 with a grade of C or better
Corequisite: NUR 449
This capstone course focuses on three core areas: managing care for patients with multiple complex health problems, transitioning to professional nursing practice, and preparing for the NCLEX-RN. Students complete five classroom hours weekly. Students also complete 210 clinical hours in complex simulations and one-on-one with registered nurse preceptors in acute care settings. In these immersive experiences, students deliver
safe, evidence-based, person-centered care while applying principles of systems-based practice and care coordination. Through clinical judgment, reflective practice, and professional engagement, students prepare to transition from the student role to that of a practice-ready baccalaureate generalist nurse.
