MUSA 127 Keyboard Skills II
Previously MUSC 115. Keyboard Skills II is a corequisite course taken the same semester as Music Theory II and Ear Training and Musicianship II. It offers students the second level of functional piano and technique. It is a continuation of Keyboard Skills I in preparation for the required music major Piano Proficiency Examination. In addition, it reinforces concepts from Music Theory II and Ear Training and Musicianship II as well as introduces concepts from Music Theory III.
Prerequisite
MUSA 126 with a grade of C or better

2 hours weekly and additional practice time
Course Objectives
- Play the piano at an early intermediate level including skills such as arpeggios, scales, chord progressions, and triads.
- Harmonize and transpose melodies.
- Perform a score reading and improvise a series of jazz chords.
- Play an accompaniment at the early intermediate level, and one solo piano piece at the early intermediate level.
