ENGL 021 Academic Reading and Writing

Academic Reading and Writing is a corequisite course intended to provide students with additional support to ensure their success in College Composition (ENGL 121). The course curriculum, which is closely aligned with the College Composition curriculum, employs an integrated reading and writing approach to help students develop confidence and proficiency in the areas of academic reading, research, and writing. Students benefit from collaborative learning, guided instruction, and interactive exercises, which strengthen their writing abilities, cultivate critical thinking skills, and enhance their aptitude for interpreting, analyzing, and critically engaging texts. These strategies empower students to tackle challenging writing assignments in College Composition and prepare them for their college career. The course also addresses common barriers to student success.
