AGNG 160 The Aging Process: Gerontology
This course will focus on the physiological, psychological, and social changes that impact the aging population. In addition, students will focus on assessment and counseling skills relevant to preserving independence in the aged and meeting the health needs of the aging population.

- Summarize the physiological, psychological, and social changes that occur in the aging process.
- Identify common chronic illnesses, mental health issues, and social challenges affecting older adults, and analyze their impact on aging.
- Identify a variety of interventions, services, and resources available to support older adults.
- Describe the characteristics of the dying process, and identify the stages of dying and bereavement.
- Describe the diverse needs of older adults across various cultural backgrounds.
