Application Procedures
To be considered for financial assistance, students and families must complete the following:
- Step One: Complete the federal or state application.
- Students who are US Citizens, Permanent Residents, Eligible Non-Citizens, and T Visa Holds should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is available at www.studentaid.gov.
- Undocumented students and students who meet the non-resident exemption as described under §15–106.8. of the MD Education Article should complete the Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA) which is available at https://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us/.
To allow HCC access to the information reported on the student's application, students must add HCC (TIV School Code=008175) to the application and have a valid social security number (SSN) on file with Records, Registration, and Veterans Affairs, if applicable, .
Please Note: The FAFSA and MSFAA are available on October 1st of each year. Students seeking financial assistance are strongly urged to submit their application by the March 1st priority deadline. Applications complete by March 1st will be given priority for limited grant and scholarship funds.
- Step Two: Respond to all financial aid required agreements.
Registered students interested in HCC Foundation Scholarships, must respond to the FERPA required agreement. And all MD state residents should complete the Drug Free Pledge and MD Residency Confirmation agreement. "Required Agreements" can be found in Self-Service under the "User Option" link.
- Step Three: Complete the HCC Online Scholarship Application.
Howard Community College Educational Foundation, Inc. (HCCEF) provides hundreds of specialized opportunities for eligible students. The online application is made available to HCC students in April of each year for the following academic year. Visit www.howardcc.edu/scholarships to apply.
