BMET 220 Biomedical Equipment Field Internship
Students will spend a minimum of 100 hours working as a biomedical technician intern in a chosen area of the biomedical equipment technology industry at an off-campus facility. The faculty instructor and industry mentor will provide and coordinate measurable learning objectives, applicable experiences, and evaluation. Students will maintain a written journal of internship experiences.

Course Objectives
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair biomedical equipment under the supervision of a full-time technician.
- Interpret equipment-specific documentation, including user guides, service manuals, maintenance procedures, etc.
- Describe the role of a biomedical equipment technician and the interactions with other medical professionals within the broader context of the healthcare industry.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and an adherence to employer and industry standards, policies, and procedures associated with the internship.
- Assess one's own performance and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from the internship supervisor.
