BIOL 121 Biology for Engineers Laboratory
This laboratory course is designed for engineering majors. It builds upon the material covered in
BIOL-120, providing an introduction to experimental techniques in cellular and molecular biology that provide the foundation for modern biotechnology and bioengineering. Experiments conducted in this laboratory course will employ the tools and techniques most commonly used in the experimental study of biochemical systems.

Course Objectives
- 1. Use experimental techniques, tools, and protocols common in biotechnology and bioengineering.
- 2. Perform quantitative analysis of experimental data, including error analysis.
- 3. Interpret data from biological experimentation, drawing conclusions that synthesize conceptual understanding with experimental results.
- 4. Design experimental plans and/or procedures to apply the scientific method to biological questions.
- 5. Describe the field of bioengineering and the activities of engineers in various sub-disciplines.
