MATH-063 Introduction to Elementary Algebra
This course covers the topics in the middle units in the sequence. The student will simplify expressions involving integer exponents, combine polynomials using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and simplify rational expressions and radicals. Students will solve systems of two linear equations both algebraically and graphically. Methods of factoring second-degree polynomials and applications involving factoring and scientific notation will also be included. Students will solve quadratic equations and related applications using factoring and the quadratic formula. Accelerated students will solve problems using ratios and proportions, the Pythagorean Theorem, distance and midpoint formulas. All sections require the use of the interactive computer program that comes with the software code.
