DANC-292 Intermediate Jazz Dance II

This course is a continuation of DANC-193, Intermediate Jazz Dance I, at a higher level of proficiency. A continuation of jazz dance technique with emphasis on performance of styles used on the concert stage, television and motion pictures. Expanded movement vocabulary involving sequences of greater complexity. Course will introduce choreographic explorations of jazz dance for the concert stage.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Demonstrate at an intermediate level an understanding of jazz dance vocabulary by participating in class
    discussions and passing written assignments.
  2. 2. Satisfactorily pass practicum examinations demonstrating technical ability in performance of movement
    sequences.
  3. 3. Identify and discuss the vast variety of music for jazz dance.
  4. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of choreography for jazz dance.
  5. 5. Communicate in a written critical analysis a jazz dance/musical theatre concert.
