CSCO-305 Cisco IP Telephony

This course concentrates on the fundamental elements of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls, the description of dial plans, and the implementation of gateways, gatekeepers, and IP-IP gateways. This course provides extensive hands-on exercises. This course prepares students to take the Cisco Voice Over IP (CVOICE) certification exam (642-436).

Credits

Prerequisite

CSCO-292 or CCENT certification

Hours Weekly

2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab weekly

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Describe converged network requirements, traffic conditions in a converged network, and
    components of a gateway.
  2. 2. Explain the different types of voice ports, their usage, dial types, and codec and codec
    complexity; configure analog and digital voice ports.
  3. 3. Describe basic principles of VoIP network bandwidth requirements, VoIP packet encapsulation,
    and VoIP implementation.
  4. 4. Describe a dial plan, numbering plan, digit manipulation, path selection, calling privileges, call
    coverage, and the basic operation and components involved in a VoIP call.
  5. 5. Configure and verify dial-plan implementation.
  6. 6. Describe the function and interoperation of gatekeepers within an IP communications network;
    implement and verify gatekeeper operation.
  7. 7. Configure and verify IP-to-IP gateway operation and implementation.
