PTAP-250 Clinical Neuroscience
This course focuses on nervous system anatomy and function, and normal/abnormal development. Students also learn assessment of the neurologically impaired patient and therapeutic approaches to central nervous system dysfunctions throughout the life cycle.
Hours Weekly
2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab weekly
Course Objectives
- 1. Discuss normal neuroanatomy and physiology.
- 2. Compare and contrast normal and abnormal motor development.
- 3. Employ assessment tools commonly utilized for the neurologically impaired patient population.
- 4. Discuss common neurological impairments encountered from infancy through adulthood.
- 5. Demonstrate appropriate physical therapy interventions for the neurologically impaired patient
using safe and effective techniques.
