Rouse Company Foundation Student Services Building

YRBA-901 Elementary Yoruba I

In this foundational course, students will apply four language skills - listening, speaking, writing, and reading - in order to be able to communicate at a basic level by exchanging, interpreting, and presenting information; to compare Yoruba-speaking cultures' practices, perspectives, and products to students' own cultures; to connect the Yoruba language to other relevant disciplines; and to begin using the Yoruba language outside of the classroom in limited contexts. Content and supporting language structures and vocabulary will be theme-based, with outcomes measured in a variety of ways, including task-based activities that support effective communication around the theme. All World Language Classes include 50 minutes of required Lab time. MWF classes meet a second hour F for Lab. MW and TTH classes include Lab in their meeting time.
