POLI-925 Information Technology in Political Campaigns
This course will educate political science students, information technology students, and others about the role of the Internet and database technologies on democratic political campaigns, primarily in the United States. Students will examine the opportunities and challenges of how these technologies are being used for fundraising, educating and mobilizing volunteers, polling, attacking the credibility of opponents, fact checking, target mailings on issues, web videos, social networking web sites, forums, blogs, and more. Students will also be asked to imagine further information technology political applications. The course will require the use of the Internet and databases with voter data used by political campaigns. Also listed as CMSY-925.
