PHYS-101 Technical Physical Science

This Technical Physics course is designed for technology majors such as BMET, Cardiovascular, Computer Support, Electronics, and Telecommunications Technology. It consists of basic scientific mathematics and an integrated sequence of physical and chemical principles. This course will enable the student to become aware of, to identify, and to evaluate situations and/or problems in contemporary physical science which include: basic chemical and physical principles with applications to the human body; properties and states of matter; science measurement and dimensional plus statistical analysis techniques. Special emphasis is placed upon learning physics principles and solving mathematical problems in density/specific gravity, gas laws, solutions, pressure, work and energy, fluids, basic electricity, waves, sound, magnetism, and the atom. The laboratory program will allow the student to develop an understanding of the fundamental principles of the above mentioned areas, including problem solving, and their application to physical phenomenon observed.
