HIS 110 History of Cosmology (PHY)
Prerequisite: Completion or waiver of MAT 012
This course will examine the scientific, historical, and philosophical foundations of
our understanding of the universe from antiquity to the present. Emphasis will be on developing an appreciation for the science of cosmology through Western traditions and thought. Lecture and discussion will be supplemented with group activities designed to illustrate concepts and practice scientific reasoning skills. By the end of the course, students will have gained an appreciation and understanding of the historical, philosophical, and scientific milestones in scientific cosmology. Non-credit for students who completed it as PHY 186. Western History Perspective and NonLab Natural Science Course
