HHP 345 Biomechanics & F Mvmt Analysis
Prerequisite: Completion or waiver of MAT 012; and BIO 101
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the foundations of biomechanics and functional anatomy. The course will be divided into two parts, the first being a review of the musculo-skeletal system and tissue types. The second portion of the class will apply physical concepts such as kinetics, and kinematics to the human system, both static and dynamic. How both quantitative and qualitative video analysis of various human movements, both functional and performance related. Other laboratory activities include: force measurement during various movements & muscle recruitment and firing patterns. Knowledge of algebra and algebraic functions, while not required, is helpful. Students will be expected to write lab reports, perform calculations, interpret scientific literature relevant to the field, and understand scientific methods and statistical analysis.
