DANC 113 Music Concepts for Dance

This course will provide students with an understanding of how music is notated and structured in relation to dance. Students will learn fundamental musical tools essential for dance performance, teaching, and choreography. The course will provide a historical context by surveying the shifts in music from the Medieval period through the 21st century. Students will also explore the ethical issues involved with the reproduction and use of recorded music for dance performance. Through this process students can learn and integrate language and knowledge to effectively communicate their musical needs with musicians.
